DIN 985 Carbon Steel Zinc Plated Nylon Insert Lock Nut

Nyloc nuts are manufactured from carbon steel, stainless steel, or alloy steel, with property classes ranging from Class 6 to Class 10 for metric sizes and Grade 2 to Grade 8 for imperial sizes. Available surface treatments include zinc plating, hot-dip galvanizing, and black phosphate, all of which provide corrosion resistance. Applicable standards include DIN 982, DIN 985, ASME B18.16.6, and IFI 100/107. Standard thread sizes range from M2 to M64 for metric and #2-56 to 2-1/2 inches for imperial. Common applications include automotive assemblies, machinery, electronics, and marine equipment. It is important to note that nylon insert lock nuts have a maximum operating temperature of 250°F (121°C), as higher temperatures can soften the nylon and reduce locking effectiveness. For safety reasons, reuse is not recommended, as the nylon deforms upon installation and loses prevailing torque with each subsequent use.
